Notice a pattern?! Why do languages with Latin roots call a leap year ‘2 sixes’? In Roman times, Julius Caesar created a new calendar system where days were counted backwards from the next month, so the 24th February was the 6th day before March. Under that system, February 23rd was allocated as the extra day that was repeated once every 4 years. Hence, in a leap year, there were two ‘6 days before March’! Eventually the calendar changed but the name remained ….
