Corinium Language Associates
We take our name from the Roman name for Cirencester: "Corinium Dubonnorum". Cirencester is now known as the "Capital of the Cotswolds" and we are proud to welcome you to such a delightful part of the country. The Cotswolds is an area of outstanding beauty, with a fascinating heritage and some of the most charming villages in the United Kingdom. It is fitting that our Language Centre is now located in Cirencester itself.

Cirencester is a key centre for visitors wishing to visit the unspoilt towns, grand country houses, imposing churches and fairytale cottages set in the attractive countryside of the region. It is a lively market town, although never as crowded as nearby Bath and Oxford, and dates back to before the Doomsday Book of 1086. In Roman times, Cirencester was second only to London in size and importance. Today, it is a thriving country town, with carefully maintained historic buildings and a small but strong business community.

Nearby places to visit:
  • Bibury: a popular village with an ancient mill and the famous Arlington Row cottages.
  • Burford: a picture-postcard town with many boutiques and antique shops.
  • Fairford: a quiet town boasting a church with medieval stained-glass windows
  • Stow-on-the-Wold: a hill-top town with elegant houses, antique shops and inns.
Bourton-on-the-Water, Moreton-in-Marsh, Lechlade, Tetbury and Chipping Campden are also well worth a visit.

Further afield

Slightly further afield are the cities of Bath (about 1 hour from our Language Centre), Oxford (about 40 minutes) and Stratford-on-Avon (1 hours). For brighter lights and city entertainment such as theatres, clubs, cinema, skating, bowling etc., Swindon is nearest (25 minutes), with Cheltenham and Gloucester (45 minutes) and Bristol (1 hours) not far away.

Local sports facilities include horse-riding, sailing, windsurfing, golf, flying, microlighting, parachuting and parapente, shooting, hunting, walking, jet skiing, trout and coarse fishing. Our Language Centre is only a short drive from the Cotswold Water Park, a remarkable collection of lakes offering diverse water-based recreational activities.
